Our children live in a world that is much larger than their own backyard – colorful and connected but also exponentially more complex. For many kids, traditional public education is missing the mark in preparing them to enter post-secondary education, begin their careers or become connected members of their communities.
According to the San Diego County Office of Education, only 26 percent of students in San Diego acquire a 4-year degree by age 24, while we know that an estimated 65 percent of all jobs in 2020 will require a college education. Given the pace of change, only 10 percent of students who do graduate from college have the skills to work in areas most needed in San Diego. This is not a sustainable path.
Thrive offers an alternative to traditional public education. We are a nationally recognized charter public school, pioneering pathways that prepare students, grades TK through 12, for their futures. Our program fuses specialized teaching techniques and technology to prepare students for the world around them; inspire them to accomplish goals; and connect them to their communities. We put students on a proven path to college and careers through personalized education, small group instruction, research-proven strategies and technology. We give them the tools they need to be successful in today’s world.
Our diverse community is one of our greatest strengths. We operate in some of the highest needs neighborhoods in San Diego because we value accessibility. We work everyday to prove that a great education is affordable and possible for all kids. Thrive currently serves students from 45 distinct zip codes. We instill empathy in our students for each other and the individual challenges we all face.
This is only the beginning of the Thrive story. I hope you will explore our website to learn more about how Thrive is putting students on the path to success and making a difference in local communities.
I invite you to visit one of our campuses to see our programs in action. Finally, I encourage you to reach out to me if I can be of service to you, your family or community. We are all in this together for the betterment of our children.
